Please don’t read if you have not seen episode 5 or 6 of the new series of Doctor Who yet….Spoiler alert.

Here is my review of episode 7 of the new doctor who series (“A good man goes to war”).

WOW, OH MY GOD, WHAT AN EPISODE………….. That has to be the best Doctor who episode this year.

Well what was episode 7 all about.  Well as the drama continues from episode 6, where we found out Amy Pond has been kidnapped, we find the Doctor is busy raising an army to rescue her. But as he and Rory race across galaxies, calling on friends, calling in long-held debts and solemnly given promises to raise an army, his enemies are laying a carefully concealed trap. I do have one comment to make at this stage, why didn’t they bring Jack Harkness or Martha Jones back to help? That would have been nice I think. Just a miner gripe.

Anyway, In her cell in Stormcage, River Song sadly acknowledges to Rory that the time has come at last – today will mark the Battle of Demons Run and the Doctor’s darkest hour. In the ensuing battle both sides make sacrifices and Amy is saved but her baby is kidnapped. At the end of the episode we are left with Amy’s baby many, many miles away, with the Doctor zooming off to save her, en route to the second half of the series.

As a result what we got was full of action with some good effects.  I thoroughly enjoyed it. By the way did any one notice the similarities with star wars? Matt Smith was good again as we see a dark side of the Doctor.  Arthur Darvill was excellent as Rory once more. His best bit was at the beginning when he confronted the Cybermen, in his Roman outfit, shouting “Where the hell is my wife?”. Fantastic stuff!

In addition, River Song finally reveals her most closely guarded secret to the Doctor……

And what was that secret?? Well River Song is in fact Amy and Rory’s Daughter!!! Well, who saw that coming, not me. But that revelation has just given me even more questions to ponder on. For example, if River is a timelord why did she die in the library in series 4, couldn’t she just have regenerated?? Just a minor query! And why has she not told Rory and Amy before now.

But apart from the new questions this leaves us with I must admit I have really enjoyed the series so far and cannot wait till the next episode. What did you think? Do you agree.

Unfortunately I do not have a trailer for the next episode, but will blog it as soon as I see it.
